TSKgel Amide-80 columns are packed with 3, 5, or 10µm spherical silica particles that are covalently bonded with carbamoyl groups. The amide stationary phase provides a unique selectivity under regular normal phase conditions or in the hydrophilic interaction mode of chromatography. Target applications include the analysis of saccharides, glycans, oligosaccarides, peptides and polar compounds from natural products. Unique advantages of TSKgel Amide-80 phase for saccharide analysis include novel hydrogen bonding retention mechanism between hydroxyl groups of the sample and the carbamoyl group in the stationary phase. The stationary phase does not react with reducing sugars and can be used at elevated temperatures (4 to 80 °C) to prevent peak splitting of carbohydrates that can occur at lower temperatures. In addition, the new, high efficiency, 3µm columns offer shorter analysis time and enhanced sensitivity for LC-MS applications.
The pore size of the bonded phase is indicated by the number in the product description, in this case TSKgel Amide-80 has 80Å nominal pore size. The nominal pore size of the starting base silica is 100Å.
Now available: TSKgel Amide-80 HR column in 5µm, 4.6mm ID x 25cm size. These new columns are prepared from the same 5 micron packing material and thus offer the same selectivity as existing 5µm TSKgel Amide-80 columns. In contrast to traditional 25cm x 4.6mm TSKgel Amide-80 columns, the new TSKgel Amide-80 HR columns offer higher specifications for plate count (N = > 18,000 vs. 8,000). Because HR columns are prepared from the same bonded phase lots as standard 5 micron TSKgel Amide-80 columns, the only change you will notice is more efficient chromatography!
