Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC)
Toyopearl and TSK-GEL polymeric SEC materials are available in a number of pore sizes and particle diameters. With some limited exceptions, and certain applications such as desalting, SEC is not typically used at process scale. Using molecular size as the only separation mechanism, and not adsorption, eliminates the possibility of any binding capacity for the resin. This makes SEC an inefficient technique for manufacturing.
However the pore sizes, particle sizes, and physical properties of these beads are important to understand, as they become the base beads for our IEX, HIC, and AFC products.
