Search Options The search engine on the Tosoh.com and associated websites allows for Keyword Search, product Part Number Search and Literature Search using three separate modules that are positioned in the left column on the home page of Tosoh.com and the home pages of all Tosoh subsidiaries. In addition, the total site can be searched using the search appliance in the top right hand corner of all pages on the Tosoh.com and associated websites.
Case In-Sensitive Results from the search engine are not dependent on Upper or Lower case spelling. For example, the same number and quality of results are returned when searching for Tosoh or TOSOH.
Multiple Words When you search for multiple words only those pages where all search words appear will be returned as results. For instance, searching on the Tosoh Bioscience LLC website for 'G3000SWxl' provides more results than a search for 'G3000SWxl guard' as fewer pages contain both the description 'G3000SWxl' and the word 'guard'. This can be used to advantage when narrowing search results simply by adding more words to the search term.
Exact Phrases Adding quotation marks, as in "Tosoh Bioscience", returns only those results in which the words 'Tosoh' and 'Bioscience' are used together on a page or document. Exact phrases are particularly useful when looking for specific names or technical terms.
Wild Cards An asterisk (*) can be used in front of or after a word or partial word to include all possible options, For instance, searching for *oys would return results for boys, toys, buoys, etc., while a search for *cation would include results for cation, vacation, invocation, etc., but not cationic. Multiple wildcards can be also used in searches. For example, searching for *854* would provide results for 08541, 18549, 48547, etc.
What the Search Engine Can Not Do
- Adding a minus sign ("-") directly in front of a word in a string of two or more words does not remove that word from the search term.
- Stemming - the search appliance does not provide results that include the base of words that are being searched. For instance, when searching the Tosoh Bioscience LLC website for the appearance of 'bonding', the word 'bond' is not considered as a result.
