Tosoh Bioscience Introduces Toyopearl GigaCap Ion Exchange Resins for Antibody and Other Protein Purification

High capacity resins with improved mass transfer kinetics can significantly reduce elution pool volumes for today’s higher titer processes, in some cases by 70% or more

Montgomeryville, PA - Tosoh Bioscience LLC, a provider of chromatographic solutions for biopurification, today announced the introduction of its completed line of Toyopearl GigaCap ion exchange resins for the capture and large-scale purification of antibodies and other therapeutic proteins.

The new Toyopearl GigaCap resins have higher dynamic binding capacities and the fastest elution mass transfer kinetics of any other currently available comparable resin. Based on the proven polymer technology of the Toyopearl product line these new resins provide the user an opportunity to increase process throughput both by the use of higher loads for a given column configuration, and through the added benefit of a significantly enriched target elution stream in a greatly reduced total liquid volume.

According to Al Jackewitz, marketing manager of process development resins at Tosoh Bioscience LLC, the new resins are available today in two cation exchange functionalities, Toyopearl GigaCap S-650M and Toyopearl GigaCap CM-650M, and one anion exchanger, Toyopearl GigaCap Q-650M.
